Where: Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado

What: Be a part of the Rocky Mountain region’s leading educational theatre event, the 2024 Colorado State Thespian Conference. The Colorado State Thespian Society will be hosting their 60th annual high school and middle school theatre conference December 12-14. High School Theatre in Colorado supports the fifth largest economic industry, the creative sector.

When: ThesCon is always held the first or second weekend in December, depending on city and facilities availablity. Middle schools gather for a one day event on Thursday, while high school troupes begin arriving Thursday afternoon with the conference concluding Saturday afternoon.

All High Schools, Middle Schools, Public, Private and Charter Schools in the three state regions of Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico are invited to attend. We encourage new schools to join us and share the excitement of high school theatre.

Currently, homeschooled students can attend if they work with a local school and attend as a part of their troupe. No individual attendance registration is available.

Cost:

  • $130 per high school student
  • $25 per Individual Event (limit two per high school student)
  • $30 per chaperone
  • Troupe Director is free
  • $25 late fee for individuals registered between November 10 and November 20 (late registration ends November 20)
  • Hotels range from $159/night – $219/night, quad occupancy, and can be made by troupe directors when registering for conference

How to Register

  1. Click “Troupe Director” in the upper right hand corner of this site
  2. Create your school and troupe director profile
  3. Enter your student participant information and begin registering
  4. You may keep your account open and working for changes, updates, additions and deletions
  5. Do not hit “Submit” until you have checked for accurate information in your registration
  6. Once you hit “Submit” you may not make any changes to your registration and refunds are not issued
  7. Payment is due before the conference
  8. The deadline to register is November 10 at midnight
  9. The late registration deadline closes November 20 – no late Individual Event registrations are accepted and no waiting lists exist for IEs.
  10. Final conference submission does not need to occur for room reservations to happen. Please see information on reserving your ThesCon rooms under Host Hotels

After the November 10th deadline, or after you have submitted your registration, schools are responsible for the balance due in their online account. No refunds are offered after the November 10th deadlineAdditionally, schools are responsible for the balance due after they submit or after the November 10 deadline passes. Late registrations are charged an additional $25 per student. After November 20, no late registrations are allowed.

Replacements for Individual Events (i.e. subbing out one student for another) is not allowed after the deadline

All State Opening Number

All State Opening Number Audition Information: We’re looking to cast 15-20 student performers from around Colorado to participate in the ThesCon Opening Number! The audition is open to all students grade 8-12 who attend the Colorado State Thespians Conference. We are looking to cast students who complete the audition process by October 20th at midnight, no exceptions. More info here.

“Share the Dream” Charity Project

Each year the Colorado State Thespians raises money for our service project. Each recipient is announced via the Educator Newsletters. You can help support these worthwhile organizations. Try holding a school fund-raiser prior to conference or pass a bucket at your shows. Invite students to bring a dollar or two to contribute to the cause at conference. Since 2005, Colorado Thespians has raised $98,473.00 to support state and national charities that service the Colorado community.

Graduate Credit

Educator participants are able to sign up for graduate credit. To register for THEA 513 credit from the University of Northern Colorado, please read the directions for online registration on the downloadable syllabus. Participants who plan to attend both the Teacher’s Conference and the December Thespian Conference may sign up for 2 credits.  If you plan to attend both conferences and want 2 credits, please sign up for both at the same time.
