With COVID-19 surging across the state and hospital capacity threatened, Mayor Michael B. Hancock, joined by metro-area public health leaders, on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021 announced a new face covering order for Denver as part of a coordinated approach to prevent the region’s hospital system from collapsing.
The Colorado State Thespian Conference will follow this Public Health Order and require all individuals regardless of vaccination status to remain masked during the conference with the following exceptions:
3b) individuals are deaf or hard of hearing or are communicating with someone who is deaf or hard of hearing
3c) individuals who are seated at a food service establishment or or actively eating or drinking
3d) Individuals who are asked to temporarily remove their face covering for identification purposes
3e) Individuals who are actively engaged in a public safety role such as law enforcement, firefighters, or emergency medical personnel
3f) Individuals who are actively engaged in a performing arts event … so long as the individual is maintains at least 12 feet of distance from non-household members (this applies to vaccinated individuals who are performing an IE or on mainstage – we ask all individuals who cannot provide proof of vaccination to stay masked up during these times)

Students attending ThesCon will be required to wear a mask when not performing in the Individual Event or Mainstage portions of the event. Except for pre-determined mainstage performances prior to December 2, proof of vaccination or negative Covid tests will not be collected by Colorado Thespians and is left up to the individual school and district to determine if students should attend.
For the safety of self and others, please encourage all students and adults who are feeling sick to stay home . Due to contractual obligations with the City of Denver and the Colorado Convention Center, no refunds will be given to conference participants who cannot attend conference due to illness, or schools or school districts cancelling participation in the event.
Thank you for helping keep each other safe and curb the spread of Covid 19.
